The Sperm Cell and Male Orgasm

that's a sperm cellThere are two main components to making a baby – apart from a woman and a man – and these are a sperm cell and egg cell. When a man and a woman have sexual intercourse, the sperm is ejaculated from the testicles into a woman's cervix. From there it "swims" to the fallopian tube. Of the tens of millions of sperm cells that are released by the penis, only one actually reaches the egg and fertilizes it. At that point, where the sperm and egg are combines, a new life begins.

Not all men actually understand where sperm actually come from. The fact is that spermatozoa are produced in their millions every day. They care produced in the testes and each one contains either a Y or an X chromosome which are inherited from a father and a mother respectively. If the sperm that fertilizes the egg contains a Y chromosome, it will produce a son while if an X chromosome carrying sperm is successful, then a daughter will result.

When a man ejaculates during his orgasm, the sperm is pumped into the man's vas deferens where it is mixed with the seminal fluids. Here, fructose and other chemicals are produced in order to provide nutrition to the semen as it flows through the woman. As a man ejaculates, the semen squirts out of the penis into the woman whereupon it can pass to the egg and fertilize it.

During sexual intercourse, a man needs to get an erection, which involves blood engorging the erectile tissue of the penis to harden it so that it can be pushed into the woman’s vagina. As the stimulation of sex continues, a man reaches a state of extreme arousal at which point he reaches his orgasm or sexual climax, an intense feeling of physical emotional pleasure that includes the moment of ejaculation.

There are two stages to the orgasm. The first, which is known as the ejaculatory inevitability happens first. This is the point at which a man knows that he is about to come, and can no longer control it. At this point, the seminal vesicles and prostate contract ready to spurt the semen out of the body. This is followed by the actual moment of ejaculation, at which point about 2-15 milliliters of semen surges out of the penis. A total of around 40 to 150 million sperm cells are contained within the ejaculation, and the majority of this is found in the initial squirt.

Following on from orgasm, a man goes through a short recovery period before he can ejaculate again – this depends on the individual, and can vary between several minutes and several hours.
